FAQ

1. You may qualify to enroll or change your Medicare health plan if you:

    - Are you newly eligible for Medicare

    - Drop employer/union health and/or drug coverage, including a retiree plan

    - Recently moved into the area

    - Moved into, reside in, or moved out of a qualified institutional facility such as a nursing home

    - You may also qualify under other circumstances

 

2. What is a Medicare Advantage Plan?

    Medicare Advantage plans are available to cover all Medicare services and may also offer extra coverage
    such as vision, hearing, dental and other health or wellness programs. Most Medicare Advantage plans
    include prescription drug coverage (Part D).

 

3. Are you getting the most from your Medicare options?

    If your health needs have changed, or your current plan doesn’t offer the benefits and features you’re
    looking for, it may be time to review your options.

 

4. I am turning 65, when do I enroll with Medicare?

    You have a seven month window to enroll with Medicare. You can enroll 3 months prior to your birthday,
    your birthday month, and the three months after your birthday.

 

5. When can I change my Medicare Plan?

    - Open Enrollment Period. From October 15 – December 7 each year, you can join, switch, or drop a plan.

   

    - Your coverage will begin on January 1 (as long as the plan gets your request by December 7).

 

    - Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. From January 1 – March 31 each year, if you’re enrolled
      in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan or switch to
      Original Medicare (and join a separate Medicare drug plan) once during this time. 

 

    - You can make changes to your Medicare Advantage and Medicare prescription drug coverage when
      certain events happen in your life, like if you move or you lose other insurance coverage. These chances
      to make changes are called Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs). Rules about when you can make changes
      and the type of changes you can make are different for each SEP.
